During the season of Thanksgiving, communities come together in an effort to provide for families who are struggling. Food donations help enable as many as possible to celebrate this holiday. However, sometimes the need runs deeper than food alone.
We are in a foods issues class, working with the Central Vermont Community Action Council's food program that services those in need in 56 surrounding area towns. With the devastation of Irene in mind, we brainstormed needs in our community that tend to be overlooked. One need that stuck out was cookware; many families do not have the utensils necessary to prepare fresh, nutritious meals on a regular basis.
Join us this season as we attempt to help meet this need for as many families as possible. There are three ways you can help us: you can help us monetarily, contact us for a specific list of food donations we need, or donate new (or gently used!) Cookware.
